As a Pilates instructor, activewear is basically my work wardrobe (at least that’s the excuse I give myself when I keep adding new pieces to the collection). So I like to think I’ve become a bit of a connoisseur. There’s nothing better than a set that fits beautifully, feels buttery soft, and is flattering AF.
The female designers in this space are absolutely killing it! They understand the power of feeling confident in what you wear, and the need for clothes that move with you and work hard all day long. It just hits differently when it’s been designed by someone who truly gets it.
So, if you’re on the hunt for new pieces to elevate your activewear game, here are five of my absolute favourite athleisure brands – all founded by inspiring women, and all tried, tested, and loved by me.
Founded by Grace Beverley
Grace Beverley is, in my opinion, a genius. She’s built a brand that perfectly blends sustainability, style, and affordability – three things that don’t always go hand in hand. TALA has become one of the UK’s most-loved activewear labels, and I’m not surprised. Half of my workout wardrobe is from here, and I’m obsessed with the quality and fit. The DayFlex range is especially brilliant – buttery soft, supportive, and stylish enough to wear beyond the mat.
Bonus: TALA is now available on Next.ae for next-day delivery in the UAE, or stock up while you’re in the UK. Excitingly, their very first physical store is opening in London next month!

I first came across VAARA when I was working in marketing in London, and it instantly stood out. The aesthetic, the quality, the branding – everything about it felt so elevated. VAARA sits firmly at the luxe end of the athleisure spectrum, and you can really tell. The fabrics, the fit, the way each piece is styled – it all reflects a commitment to sophistication and function in equal measure.
Every collection is versatile enough to transition through your entire day, while still making you feel polished and powerful.
Even better — VAARA’s first-ever store just opened at The Dubai EDITION. It’s definitely one to visit if you love pieces that are as refined as they are wearable.
Founded by Tatiana Kovylina and Phoebe Greenacre
SILOU is a brand I’ve admired for years – co-founded by a former Victoria’s Secret model and a wellness influencer, it’s no surprise that the collection delivers on both function and form. The pieces are sculpted, supportive, and seriously beautiful.
What really sets SILOU apart, though, is their commitment to doing better. The brand champions ethical and environmentally conscious production, crafting each piece with care to ensure it’s both kind to your body and the planet. Their minimalist, pared-back designs are timeless – proving that sustainability and style can absolutely go hand in hand.
Founded by Pip Edwards
This brand oozes laid-back Australian style, but don’t be fooled: the pieces are performance-ready, whether you’re doing a sweaty workout or just sprinting through errands. I’m a big fan of graphic t-shirts and this brand has some of the coolest ones in my opinion. Throw on over your sports bra and it’s just effortlessly chic.

Girlfriend Collective has earned cult status for good reason. The brand champions sustainability, inclusivity, and transparency – all while creating pieces that actually fit and flatter a wide range of body types. Everything from the fabric (made using recycled materials) to the colour palette feels thoughtfully curated. These are the sets I reach for when I want to feel comfortable, strong, and stylish all at once. And let’s be honest — who doesn’t love a matching set?
These are the brands I keep coming back to – not just because they look good (though they really do), but because they represent something more. Women creating for women. Style that supports substance. Comfort that doesn’t compromise on design.
